Build Baltimore Gala

The Build Baltimore Gala is BACK!

We are so excited to invite you to enjoy an evening of great food, drinks, music and networking as the industry comes together in the heart of the biggest and most inspirational urban revitalization projects in the world – Port Covington!  The event will be held at the Rye Street Tavern, located directly next to the Sagamore Distillery from 6 to 10 pm.

The Build Baltimore Gala is a celebration of Project JumpStart, the region’s most successful workforce development program.  With the recent opening of the Construction Education Academy (CEA) and creation of ABC’s new trade school, this year’s gala will be an important effort to raise money for scholarships for young individuals seeking to build life-long careers as craft professionals.  Fittingly, net proceeds from the gala will go directly to Project JumpStart and ABC’s daytime trade school program.

The venue is limited on space, so register early!  Ticket sales will end by Friday, March 11th.

USHCC 2022 Legislative Summit Conference

The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) was founded on the notion that the success of the American economy is inextricably linked to the success of the Hispanic business community. We believe that, when leaders in government and corporate America craft policies that empower America’s five million Hispanic-owned businesses, everyone benefits and our economic power evolves.

To pass legislation that strengthens the Hispanic business community, we will need to work together. That is the idea driving the theme of our 2022 USHCC Legislative Summit.

The USHCC is proud to partner with both sides of the aisle, putting policy over politics, to create solutions for the Hispanic business-owners driving the American economy to rebuild and revitalize. This year, we will convene leaders in business, government, and the corporate sectors to discuss the public policy priorities and actions of Hispanic business with the intent to create and influence the greatest impact.

The alterNATIVE Energy Resource Summit will take place in the Nation’s oldest Capitol City, Santa Fe, and the first minority/majority state in the contiguous United States. New Mexico has long embraced “native” in its diverse population, which includes 48% Hispanic and 12% Native American and in its native natural resources, as the third-largest oil producer and ninth-largest natural gas producer and New Mexico is a leader in wind and solar energy. The potential for electricity generation from wind is enormous as New Mexico ranked 13th amongst states in wind production, and New Mexico’s climate is typified by abundant sunshine, as the state is one of the top three in the nation with the best solar energy potential.

New Mexico is a natural energy hub and the perfect backdrop for the alterNATIVE Energy Resource Summit and as multiple transition pathways emerge, those pathways need to reflect the increasing need for diversity in energy systems. The Summit aims to spark dialogue on the critical issues affecting the alterNATIVE energy sector, including the demands of diverse human assets blended with the supply of various natural resource assets. “What got us here won't get us there” as we acknowledge our country's current and future demographics in shaping our energy future.

Offshore Wind Funding Programs for MD Manufacturers from MEA

Offshore wind is a manufacturing intensive industry that requires more than 8,000 components, providing an incredible opportunity for steel and metal fabricators, electrical providers, machinists, and more. Maryland is playing a leading role in this industry and is providing resources to prepare its manufacturers for the contract opportunities in this industry    While there will be ample offshore wind contract opportunities for our State’s manufacturers, companies will need to be prepared when these opportunities present themselves. The Maryland Energy Administration (MEA) has grant funding available to support new or existing businesses (including minority owned emerging businesses) exploring offshore wind contract opportunities in Maryland by offsetting their capital expenditure investments. Capital expenditures must be utilized to provide goods and services to the growing offshore wind industry in the United States.    Grant funds may be used to offset capital expenditures such as:  Business expansion including relocation costs, new construction of real property, and renovations to existing real property; and,  Purchase and installation of equipment at a new or existing real property(s).    The program will include opening remarks from RMI President Mike Galiazzo, brief comments from representatives of Orsted and US Wind, two Maryland-based companies leading the way for Maryland’s role in this industry, and an intro to MEA offshore wind grant funding programs from Sam Beirne and Emma Stoney, MEA Energy Program Managers, Wind & Water Program.
