RODRIGO AREAVENA, Chief Economist at Banco de Chile, the second largest bank in Chile after the central bank. Founded in 1894 Banco de Chile offers an array of services that go from deposits to life insurance policies. As Chief Economist, Rodrigo is in charge of monitoring the macroeconomic picture of Chile and other external markets like the US, Brazil, and Peru. His day-to-day responsibilities include communicating with small business owners, public officials, and foreign investors which makes Rodrigo very knowledgeable about the current economic environment in Chile and neighboring countries. Before joining Banco de Chile, Rodrigo was employed at Banchile and Banco Itau.
Rodrigo holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Economy at Universidad de Chile, an undergraduate degree from Valparaiso University, and an Economic Development Certificate from Harvard Kennedy School.
